Chapter 11: Permanent Orders

The permanent protective and custody orders were entered at the subsequent formal hearing.
Sole legal and physical custody of Noah was awarded to me. Both Ryan and Diane remained under long-term protective restrictions prohibiting contact, approach to any residence or school Noah occupied, and third-party attempts to obtain information. Supervised visitation was neither requested nor granted. The court cited the organized video catalog, the recorded instruction, the pattern of incidents, and the stated purpose involving a judge as controlling findings. Claims that the events had been private disciplinary documentation or symbolic lessons were noted and set aside.
Ryan’s attorney indicated an intent to challenge aspects of the ruling on appeal. The protective perimeter did not pause pending that process. Diane’s remaining communications, filtered through counsel, continued to assert overreach and the destruction of family bonds. The existence of the labeled files and the audio evidence limited the persuasive force of those assertions.
Noah was not required to attend the hearing. The child advocate represented his interests and later conveyed the outcome in age-appropriate terms: the court had made long-term rules to keep him safe, and those rules meant the people who had hurt him would not be allowed near him. He accepted the information with the practical understanding of a child who had already lived through the alternative.

Practical implementation followed immediately. School, medical, and emergency records were updated to reflect the permanent orders. Housing remained solely under my control. Financial and logistical separations that had begun under the temporary orders were completed through formal channels. No direct negotiation with Ryan or Diane was required or permitted.
I kept the key documents—the final orders, the investigative summary, and the protective restrictions—in a secure file. I did not revisit the video clips. Their contents had already produced the necessary legal result: the private system that had chained a four-year-old and recorded his distress for later courtroom use had been exposed, documented, and dismantled.
