By the next morning the formal process had begun.
I met with a lawyer recommended by the hospital’s compliance office—someone experienced in medical-record integrity and family-law intersections. She reviewed Adrian’s summary, the comparison between the incomplete divorce file and the full institutional archive, and the chain-of-custody documentation. Her assessment was measured and clear: the discrepancies were significant enough to support a petition to reopen the financial and reputational elements of the divorce settlement, and potentially to support additional claims if evidence of deliberate alteration continued to hold under scrutiny.
I authorized her to proceed with the initial filings.
The work was not dramatic. It was sequential and precise—notices, requests for preserved electronic logs, formal inquiries to the original clinic regarding the missing pages, and a motion to place the existing settlement under temporary review. I signed what needed to be signed and answered every question with the same restraint I had learned during the long months of private investigation. Emotion had already been spent in the year of believing I was broken. What remained was method.
