Chapter 2: The Parent Company

The private research suite inside our Cambridge laboratory repository smelled of old paper, leather, and expensive central air conditioning—an environment of absolute control. At 4:30 AM, less than two hours after the manor extraction, the digital monitors were humming loudly, casting a pale blue glow across the glass table surface.

My personal assistant, David, stood near the secure server rack, an encrypted digital tablet clutched in his hand.

“The transaction mapping is complete, Liam,” David said, stepping into the dim light. “Eleanor Vance hasn't just been living off her standard family allowance trust. For the last twenty-four months, she has been utilizing a cloned digital signature certificate to siphon capital directly from Vanguard’s employee healthcare insurance reserve pool.”

I sat behind my slate desk, my fingers rapidly typing commands into an air-gapped terminal client. “Where did she route the liquidity, David?”

“Directly into an un-indexed shell company registered in Delaware under her youngest son Ryan’s name,” David explained, pointing his pen at a series of irregular wire transfers. “They were utilizing the siphoned insurance capital to pay off his failed commercial real estate speculations in Manhattan. They targeted Lily’s generational trust because it was entirely debt-free; they needed it as unencumbered collateral to prevent a mandatory federal audit by Friday morning.”

I let out a low, cold breath that slightly fogged the polished edge of my display screen. My mother had spent years treating me like an obedient corporate functionary, entirely blind to the fact that every credit line she cleared, every luxury bonus she drew, was authorized by a blind trust that bore my biological initials.

“Execute the Security Protocol, David,” I commanded, my voice dropping into a register of pure, unyielding frost. “Sever all personal asset paths between my venture options and the joint family accounts. Freeze her corporate credit lines, deactivate her estate parking clearances, and initiate an immediate federal forensic audit of the Delaware shell node. I want the preservation order on her desk before the market opens.”
