Chapter 9: The Threat
Grant leaned over the bed, his face inches from mine.
His voice was low and calm, the same tone he used when he was about to hurt me.
“If you say one word to them, Elena, I will destroy you. I will make sure your family believes you’re crazy. I will make sure you never see a cent. You will have nothing.”
I looked at him without blinking.
For three years I had been afraid of those threats.
