Chapter 1: The Broadcast

The deafening hum peaked, and then the massive LED screens blazed back to life with a blinding, undeniable clarity.
It wasn't a glitch, and it certainly wasn't the university logo.
The fifty-foot display split into two massive columns. On the left side flashed high-resolution scans of the $150,000 student loan applications. The signatures were zoomed in, highlighted in stark red. Beside them, overlaid in bold text, was a forensic handwriting analysis from a certified legal expert I had quietly consulted through the clinic. It perfectly matched the forged signatures to a scanned copy of Aunt Marlene's country club membership application.
But I didn't stop there. Below the documents, a scrolling ledger of bank wire transfers appeared. It traced every single dollar of the student loan money directly from my compromised credit profile into Marlene’s personal accounts, detailing purchases of luxury cars, designer handbags, and expensive vacations.
The right side of the screen was dedicated to Vanessa and Caleb.
It displayed a clear, timestamped screenshot of the university’s backend registrar system. It showed Caleb's unique employee ID logging into my academic profile at 2:14 AM on a Sunday, manually changing my four years of perfect grades to failing marks, and subsequently transferring my valedictorian status to Vanessa's student ID.
A collective, horrified gasp swept through the auditorium. The polite silence shattered into a thousand frantic whispers.
Down in the VIP section, Marlene’s face drained of every drop of color. She leaped from her seat, pointing a shaking, manic finger at the stage.
"Turn that off!" she shrieked, her voice cracking in a desperate panic. "It’s a lie! She hacked the system! It’s a deepfake!"
But I wasn't finished. I pressed the remote one last time.
The auditorium's massive surround-sound speakers crackled, cutting off Marlene's screams, and began broadcasting a crisp, unmistakable audio recording I had captured on my phone during her little ultimatum in the hallway.
"Sign the indenture contract to pay off the loans, or I'll have CPS take that little trash baby before you even get your fake diploma. Nobody will ever believe an orphan over us."
The room went dead silent again. Even the principal, who had been standing with his arms crossed, dropped his jaw in absolute shock.

I looked down at the bottom of the steps. The CPS agent, who had been holding a clipboard and looking at me with professional disdain just moments before, was frozen. She looked at her tablet, then up at the giant screens, and finally back at me. Slowly, deliberately, the agent stepped aside, sliding her paperwork back into her briefcase.
The anonymous tip was officially unmasked as a malicious weapon.
