The jury returned its verdict on a Thursday afternoon.
Grant was found guilty on the core counts tied to the false statements in the preferential contracting process and the use of fabricated service documentation to obtain federal funds. The personal guarantees and the marshland conveyance remained the subject of parallel civil and restitution proceedings; they did not need to be resolved inside the criminal verdict to establish the central architecture of the scheme. Sentencing was set for a later date. Bond conditions were tightened. The company itself entered a suspension process that effectively ended its access to further federal recovery work.
I was not in the courtroom when the verdict was read. I received the notification through the prosecution team and through the formal channels that had governed my participation from the beginning. The result did not restore the decade. It did not rewrite the night my parents chose the forged papers over the uniform standing in front of them. It simply placed the public record where the private fiction had once operated without challenge.
