Chapter 13: The Quiet Administration
By the end of the first year the remaining processes had settled into their administrative pace.
Restitution orders were entered. The marshland recovery action advanced toward unwinding the transfer that had been justified by my supposed erasure. My parents’ guarantees and pledged assets moved through the same deliberate accounting. I received the formal notices required of a named party in the identity-theft layer of the case and otherwise stayed outside the ongoing family financial consequences. Grant’s sentencing produced a term consistent with the core false-statement and fraud counts; the details reached me only as docket entries. I did not attend.
The work of contract oversight continued without interruption. The ceremonial uniform remained in its garment bag. The rank required no public re-demonstration. It had already done the necessary work on the morning the rear doors opened.
