Chapter 4: The Con Artist Exposed

"Jordan, baby, what's wrong?!" Percy gasped, stepping away from him as he lunged toward her, his face twisted in panic. "What is that?!"

"Four hundred thousand dollars!" Jordan shrieked, waving the embossed paper in her face so violently it rattled. "You cleared out my entire savings account! You wired it to an offshore bank in Panama this morning!"

The party guests erupted into shocked murmurs. My older son, Toby, froze by the pool, watching his father unravel in front of fifty people.

"I... I don't know what you're talking about!" Percy stammered, the color draining from her face as she backed toward the side gate.

"She knows exactly what he's talking about," Clark said, his voice cutting cleanly through the chaos.

Jordan spun around to face Clark, his chest heaving. "Who the hell are you?! How did you get my corporate wire transfer receipt?!"

Clark reached into his pocket and pulled out a leather badge case, flipping it open to reveal a gold investigator's crest.

"My name is Clark Vance," he said calmly. "I'm not just an actor, Jordan. I'm a senior financial investigator with Apex Forensic Recovery. When Maya's divorce attorney noticed discrepancies in your marital asset disclosures, she hired my firm to run an audit on your company."

I stared at Clark in absolute shock. My lawyer had told me she was sending "someone special" to help me through the party, but I had assumed "agency" meant actors—not a forensic investigator undercover.

"While we were tracing where you hid Maya's share of the marital estate," Clark continued, pointing at the voice recorder in the box, "we found something else. Percy didn't just seduce her boss, Jordan. She's been systematically copying your executive logins for eight months. Press play on the recorder."

Jordan's trembling finger hit the play button on the small device.

Percy's voice—clear, sharp, and mocking—echoed out over the swimming pool:

"He’s an absolute idiot. I wired the last of his retirement funds this morning. By the time he realizes the accounts are empty on Monday, I'll be in Marbella, and he'll be taking the fall for the missing escrow money."
