Chapter 7: The Legal Battle

The legal battle began when Vanessa was released on bail.
She filed for divorce on her terms, demanding half of everything and threatening to drag my mother’s name through the mud if I didn’t agree.
My attorney, Cynthia Ross, smiled when she read the filing.
“She has no idea what she’s up against.”
We countered with the full evidence: the flash drive recordings, the medical reports, the financial transactions showing Vanessa had been stealing from my mother for months.
The judge granted a restraining order against Vanessa.
She was not allowed near my mother or the house.
Vanessa’s lawyer tried to negotiate.
We refused.
The legal battle was not long.
The evidence was too strong.
Vanessa lost custody of any future claims, lost the house, lost the cars, lost the accounts she had controlled.
She left the courtroom crying.
The legal battle was over.

Justice had been served.
And my mother was finally safe.
