Chapter 11: Coordinated Action

The creditors’ coordinated filing landed the next morning.

It was precise and heavy. The action tied the early capitalization of Vale Meridian Holdings directly to assets that had disappeared during the Meridian Logistics collapse, and it requested immediate expanded discovery across the shell entities mapped in the ledger. By midday, two additional counterparties suspended contracts. By late afternoon, the company’s remaining open credit lines were under formal review.

Vivian called as the first summaries hit the financial wires.

“This is the inflection point,” she said. “The narrative is no longer a domestic dispute with financial complications. It’s a capital recovery effort with a domestic violence record attached. Adrian’s counsel is already requesting emergency conferences.”

“Will they get room?”

“Limited room. The freezes hold. The discovery accelerates. The best they can do now is argue sequencing and scope.”

I stood in the rented apartment’s narrow living room and listened to the details without interruption. The altar felt distant. The whispered command to know my place had become an artifact of a structure that was no longer standing.

“Continue as planned,” I said.

After the call I made coffee and reviewed the public statements already emerging. None of them mentioned the wedding dress on the marble floor. They didn’t need to. The bruises had done their work in the first twenty-four hours. The ledgers were doing the rest.
