Chapter 13: The Interview

Adrian’s formal interview under the expanded discovery order lasted six hours.
I did not attend. Vivian received the summary the following day and walked me through it in clean sequence. He denied direction of the founding capital structure. He attributed key decisions to former advisors and dead entities. When confronted with the private ledger, his answers became shorter. Counsel intervened more frequently. By the final hour, the interview had become a record of evasion rather than explanation.
“The ledger is doing the work,” Vivian said. “It doesn’t require him to confess. It only requires him to fail to account for it.”
“And the forged guarantees?”
“Still positioned as internal control failures. That line is wearing thin. The signature analysis is consistent, and the timing aligns with the engagement period.”
