Chapter 9: The Parallel Tracks

By the end of the first week the two primary tracks—corporate and personal—were fully in motion.

Outside counsel confirmed that the imaged drives and wire records supported a viable referral for theft of trade secrets and related financial crimes. The internal investigation began interviewing the limited set of employees whose systems had touched the same materials. Kenneth’s company devices were seized under the legal hold. His attempt to frame the entire sequence as a vindictive wife’s overreach collapsed against the documentary trail he had kept so carefully in his own safe.

On the personal side, my attorneys filed the initial action covering the medical consent fraud, the intentional infliction of permanent reproductive harm, and the parallel financial deceptions that had used the marriage as cover. The hospital records from Saint Anthony Medical Center—obtained through proper request—established the early-morning admission, the nature of the injury, and the identities of both parties. I did not need to publicize the adhesive. The fact of the affair, the falsified medical consent, and the corporate theft were sufficient to remove any remaining social or legal shelter Kenneth might have claimed.

He attempted one final indirect approach through a mutual acquaintance, offering a narrative of regret and a willingness to “make financial amends” if the criminal referral and the medical suit could be softened. The acquaintance was instructed, once, to carry no further messages. I documented the attempt and added it to the file.

On Friday afternoon I stood in the executive corridor outside the office that had once been Kenneth’s and is now under formal seal. The building moved around me with its ordinary rhythm—analysts, counsel, the low noise of a company correcting course. I had returned to the version of myself that existed before the marriage: the CFO who read every footnote, who trusted documentation over charm, and who did not require a husband’s permission to act on evidence.

The glue had been a private mechanism of exposure.

What followed was institutional, methodical, and irreversible.

Kenneth Rollins had used five years of proximity to extract capital, strategy, and the possibility of a biological family I had never been allowed to choose.

I was taking each of those thefts back through the systems built to address them.

And I was no longer interested in his version of the story.
