Chapter 7: The Filings
The formal filings went out on the fifth day. Counsel submitted the documentation establishing that no marriage had been completed, that no joint property interests had attached, and that any attempt by Adrian Ellison or his representatives to assert authority over my registered holdings or personal accounts was without legal basis. A parallel notice went to the Ellison family office requiring that all future communication regarding Halcyon Hotels or my assets travel exclusively through attorneys. The recording remained under seal for the moment—available if the other side chose to escalate, unnecessary if they did not.
Adrian’s response arrived through his own counsel by evening: a letter expressing “profound regret for the misunderstanding at the ceremony” and proposing a private meeting to “restore clarity and goodwill.” The letter carefully avoided admitting the existence of the transfer document or the physical confrontation. I instructed my attorney to reply with a single sentence: all relevant facts were already in the possession of counsel, and no meeting would occur.
