Chapter 8: The Eviction
The formal notice to vacate was served three days later.
Garrick and Miriam were given thirty days. Elena made it clear that any attempt to remove fixtures, damage property, or delay the process would result in additional legal action. The monthly transfers remained frozen. Garrick’s business, already under pressure, began missing payments on unrelated obligations.
I stayed away from the mansion. I had no desire to watch them pack. Elena’s team handled the logistics and kept me informed. According to the reports, Miriam spent the first week oscillating between rage and theatrical collapse. Garrick spent it on the phone with anyone who might still loan him money or influence.
On the fifteenth day I received a final email from him. It was shorter than the others.
I never knew you. Not really.
I read it once.
Then I archived it with the rest.
He was right.
He had never known me.
