Chapter 13: Permanent Structure
Years after the second morning of the marriage, the structure required no further enforcement. It had become ordinary.
The formal separation reached final orders that reflected the ownership schedules, the assault record, and the protective restrictions. Daniel retained no discretionary authority over the residence or the hospitality entities. Contact remained prohibited under standing terms. Residual financial claims were resolved through counsel against the same evidentiary baseline that had governed every prior stage. No late revision of the slap, the hierarchy, or the assumption of camera ownership was accepted.
Margaret and Vanessa occupied whatever reduced position the family’s constrained circumstances still allowed. I received no direct communication from them and authorized none. Their earlier certainty—that the house, the cameras, and the wife could be managed by raised voices and raised hands—had ended the morning the freezes locked and the recordings were confirmed under Vale Meridian authority. That ending did not require my ongoing attention.

I maintained the holding structure and the residence without public statement. The protocol had completed its function: preserve the record, remove discretionary channels, and eliminate the belief that a wife could be struck into place without institutional consequence. The consequence was now permanent rather than provisional.
Evelyn closed the active phase of the file once the final orders were entered. The evidence packet—the kitchen footage, the injury documentation, the family’s statements under the pantry camera, the freeze authorizations—remained in secure storage according to protocol. I did not revisit it. Its existence was sufficient to prevent later narrative revision.
