Chapter 8: The Legal War

The legal war continued the next week.

Gavin and Valerie filed more motions — fraud, undue influence, breach of fiduciary duty. They tried to freeze my shares and reinstate Gavin as CEO.

My team countered with the full ownership history, the patent transfer documents, and financial audits showing Apex Global was on the verge of bankruptcy before I bought it.

The judge grew impatient.

“This is not a marital dispute,” she said. “This is corporate ownership. The documents are clear. Mrs. Harper is the majority shareholder.”

Gavin’s lawyer tried one last argument.

“My client was unaware of the full ownership structure.”

The judge looked at him.

“Ignorance of the documents you signed is not a defense.”

The legal war ended quickly.

My 83% share was confirmed.

Gavin and Valerie lost control of the company by the end of the week.

I sat in the boardroom the next morning and looked at the empty chairs where they had once sat.
