A business magazine ran a cover story titled “The Heir They Threw Out.” The article detailed Evelyn’s quiet work supporting Harper Maritime, the Thanksgiving divorce, and the sudden inheritance that had flipped the power structure. Photos from the wedding, from charity events, from the divorce filing all painted the same picture: a woman who had given everything and been discarded the moment she was no longer useful.
Grant’s phone rang nonstop.
Investors pulled out.
Contracts were canceled.
The board of Harper Maritime voted to remove him as CEO.
Savannah moved out of the Greenwich estate the same week the story broke, taking the diamond pendant and the pregnancy with her.
Margaret called Evelyn once.
The message was short.

Evelyn saved the message and forwarded it to her legal team.
She did not respond.
