Chapter 7: Emergency Orders

The emergency filings were submitted the next morning.
Temporary sole custody, exclusive use of the home if required, and a prohibition on unsupervised contact. The medical photographs, the clinic notes, Lily’s consistent statement, Hena’s recorded fear of the key, and the photographs of the storage room went into the packet. The court granted the temporary orders the same day. Vanessa was served through the formal process.
Her first response, once counsel appeared, was to claim disciplinary necessity and to accuse me of overreacting to ordinary parenting. The storage-room lock and the visible injuries made that position difficult to maintain. I did not engage her directly. Every communication routed through attorneys. The girls remained with me under the temporary order’s terms.
