Chapter 8: The Legal Strike
Claire did not rely on words alone.
While Julian and his parents remained in the kitchen arguing in low, urgent voices, she stepped into the living room and made two calls.
The first was to her attorney.
The second was to the private security firm listed in the ownership documents of the house.
By the time she returned to the kitchen, the legal process was already in motion.
“I’ve notified my lawyer,” she said calmly. “A formal notice of ownership enforcement is being issued this morning. Security will be here in twenty minutes to ensure a peaceful transfer of occupancy.”
Julian’s head snapped up.
“You called security on your own husband?”
“I called security on people who were actively removing my property from my home,” Claire corrected. “There is a difference.”
His father looked stunned.
“You’re actually doing this.”
“I am,” Claire replied. “And before you waste time trying to contest it, understand that every document is already filed. The debt clearance, the collateral agreement, the ownership reversion — all of it is stamped, dated, and enforceable.”
Julian dragged a hand down his face.
“Claire, stop. We can still fix this. I’ll call off the divorce. I’ll send Elena away permanently. We can reset.”
Claire looked at him for a long moment.
Then she shook her head.
“You don’t get to reset a fire after you’ve already burned the house down.”
