Chapter 11: The Hidden Will

The hidden will was discovered two weeks after the arrest.

It was found in a private safe in my mother’s study, written months earlier. In it, she left almost everything to a distant cousin, completely cutting Grandma and me out.

I read the document in the lawyer’s office with Grandma beside me.

The lawyer looked uncomfortable.

“She clearly planned this for a long time.”

Grandma’s voice was calm.

“She planned to kill my grandson and then erase us from the family.”

The will was contested immediately.

My legal team argued undue influence, mental instability, and the fact that my mother had attempted to murder her own grandson.

The court froze the assets pending the criminal trial.

My mother, from her jail cell, tried to fight it. She sent messages through her lawyer, offering “generous settlements” if I dropped the charges.

My answer was simple.

“No.”

The hidden will became just another piece of evidence in the growing case against her.

It showed premeditation.

It showed hatred.

It showed a woman willing to destroy her own blood to protect a legacy that no longer existed.

Grandma and I left the lawyer’s office and went to the park.

For the first time in weeks, we felt something close to peace.

The will had tried to erase us.

But we were still here.
