Chapter 7: The Lawsuit
Three weeks after I canceled the wedding, Priya filed a civil lawsuit against Adrian on behalf of both Rosa and me.
The claims included workplace harassment, coercion, emotional distress, and breach of fiduciary duty (since Adrian had used his position of power over Rosa as her employer). We also included claims related to the threats he made on the recording.
At the same time, the district attorney’s office opened a criminal investigation based on the evidence I had provided. While forcing someone to have an abortion wasn’t straightforward under the law, the coercion, threats, and workplace exploitation were more than enough to build a strong case.
Adrian’s lawyers tried to fight back aggressively at first. They filed motions to dismiss and accused me of trying to “extort” him. But every time they pushed, we pushed back harder with more evidence.
The recording was devastating.
Every time Adrian’s legal team tried to paint him as a victim of a “misunderstanding,” we simply played another clip of him coldly telling Rosa to “get rid of that baby” because it would “hurt his career.”
Public opinion began to turn against him quickly.
A few of his former colleagues spoke anonymously to the press. One of them described Adrian as “arrogant and entitled,” someone who believed the rules didn’t apply to him. Another mentioned that he had a reputation for treating female employees poorly.
His company officially distanced themselves from him in a public statement, saying they were “cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.”
Adrian’s perfect image was crumbling in front of everyone.

And I made sure to stay quiet in public. I didn’t give interviews. I didn’t post anything on social media. I let the evidence speak for itself.
Because silence, when you have proof, can be more powerful than any statement.
