In the end the marble staircase belonged to a house I never re-entered, and the hospital room belonged to a single night that produced every necessary signature.
I did not keep the final text as a trophy. It had done its limited job: delivered the boundary in language they could not misinterpret. After that, the freezes, the decree, and the simple refusal to reappear were sufficient.
