One year later, Claire stood in front of a large conference room filled with people.
She had just been promoted to Vice President of Operations at her company. It was a position she had worked toward for years, and she had finally achieved it on her own terms — without Ryan’s shadow hanging over her.
After the presentation, she stepped outside for some fresh air. Her phone buzzed with a message from Lena.
Lena: Proud of you. Dinner tonight to celebrate?
Claire smiled and replied.
Claire: Yes. Let’s do it.
As she put her phone away, she caught her reflection in the glass door.
She looked different from the woman who had sat on that plane a year ago. Her eyes were clearer. Her posture was stronger. There was a quiet confidence in her expression that hadn’t been there before.
