Chapter 8: The Hidden Will

Two days later, Finnley officially presented the new will through Leonard Hale.
The court accepted the filing, which immediately put pressure on Reagan and Carter. The old will they had used after Camden’s death was now under review.
When Reagan found out, she called Finnley directly.
“You think you can just walk back into our lives and take everything?” she snapped over the phone.
“It was never yours to begin with,” Finnley replied calmly. “My father made his wishes clear in the new will. You and Carter were only supposed to get an allowance.”
Reagan let out a sharp laugh.
“You really think a judge is going to believe you? You’re a convicted thief. No one is going to side with an ex-con over us.”
Finnley stayed quiet for a moment.
“Then I guess we’ll see what the evidence says,” he said before hanging up.
He knew Reagan was scared. She was trying to act confident, but the fact that she called him directly showed she was starting to panic.
Finnley looked at the documents spread across the motel bed.
